Milani Runway Eyes FOTD

I finally got around to doing a FOTD using my new Milani wet/dry eye shadows...I LOVE them to death! The color payoff after foiling is amazing! I used Leaf Green and Blue Lagoon.

- Maybelline Volum' Express Mascara in Black

Cheeks:
- Everyday Minerals blush in Waffle Cone

Lips:

- Canmake lipliner in Beige
- M.A.C lipstick in Peachstock

Eyes How To:

1. Apply Cash Flow Paint Pot from lash to brow bone as a base.

2. Apply Green Leaf e/s WET from lash line and extend slightly past crease.

3. Apply Ransom e/s on crease and lower outer V.

4. Apply Blue Lagoon e/s DRY on outer 2/3 of lid. Extend past crease. Blend in with green e/s.

New Makeup Bag

The makeup bag I had been using until recently was looking boro-boro. So I got a new one on my way home from work a few days ago. It's made from terry-cloth material but has plastic piping on the edges, making it sturdy. Lovin' it!

Here's the old one...I actually bought this at the 100 yen store for 300 yen (they sell stuff there that's more than 100 yen, LOL). See how the velcro closure is falling off, and the bag itself is all scratched up? I used the zippered pocket on the outside to store my brushes...no good! It always squished the brushes into a funky shape.

Here's my new one...I think it's cute.

It's roomy, and has a separate section for brushes!

So what does everyone else's makeup bag look like?

Shibuya Adventure Pt. 2

I LOVE Shibuya...it has EVERYTHING (except a M.A.C Pro Store, which actually isn't too far away, in Omotesando). I took my unstylish-ass to Zara, which is much like Forever 21, but not as cute. I hadn't bought new jeans in a year and a half, and I ALWAYS wear the same three pairs...so you can imagine what those three look like...shapeless, thinned out, and generally UGH. I really don't like going to clothing stores, especially in Japan. Maybe 'cause they're always super-crowded and the people who work there are either rude or vapid. I went Tuesday morning, so no one was there yet, which meant I could try on a bunch of stuff. Here's what I walked out with:

New jeans...I love the medium wash, and whisker details.

Striped cami...you might not be able to see, but the eyelets going down the middle are cute :)

Striped yellow tee

I also went to the Lush store near the station. I was going to check out their shampoos and conditioners, but I bought a face moisturizer instead. This one is called 'Imperialis'. It's made for combination skin...here's the description from their website:

"Imperialis is great for combination skin because it's made with lavender infusion to balance the skin's sebum production. Meaning what exactly? Well, lavender encourages dry skin to produce more natural oils and discourages oily skin from overdoing it. With orange flower water to tone and St John's wort to soothe irritation, Imperialis' collection of butters and natural oils make it not too heavy and not too light, bordering on perfection."

If this stuff works for me, I will definitely buy more products!!! I was eyeing their Eau Roma Water, a rosewater toner, but I had already spent enough money. Maybe on my next adventure.

I also got a M.A.C. Paint Pot in 'Cash Flow' and a NYX lipliner in 'Mauve'. I like how Cash Flow is a subdued, darker gold, not at all yellow-ish. I'm definitely pairing it with my Milani wet/dry shadows ;)

Ohhhh heeeelllppp meeeeee, I need to stop spending!

Throwback!

I found some old pictures of me floating around on Facebook. I think they were taken in '02 or '03. My teeth were straighter, my skin was clearer, and I didn't always need makeup to look like I got enough sleep, LOL. But hey, at least my hair looks better now! Back then I couldn't be bothered to style my hair. It was always in a messy bun that I would unravel at the end of the day, and it'd look messy and unwashed like it does in the first picture.

Now that I am on my descent to the big 3-0 (okay, I'm still 25), I have noticed that I have fine lines under my eyes, and 'shimi', or sunspots on my cheeks and nose. I feel naked and overexposed if I step out of my house without foundation on. I miss the days where I could literally fly out of my house in 15 minutes to get to work or class on time...now it takes me at LEAST 30 minutes to get ready, and even then, I wouldn't be done with my makeup!

If I could have changed anything back then I would've NOT SMOKED. It was one of my many vices. I started smoking at the ripe young age of 16, and I still do, on occasion. But back until a few years ago, I always had a pack or two of cigarettes in my purse. Now I only have one when I'm really stressed, and even then, I just retreat to my makeup corner, avoiding cigs at all costs. It's just not worth the health risks, money, bad breath, yada yada yada.

So ladies, what are/were your vices?

EOTD: Sea Foam Green and Brown

I finally made a video, yeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!!! Sooo much easier than picture tutorials. It took forever to upload on YouTube...I hope you guys like it. I don't make sense a LOT, and please excuse the frequent "um's". Now I need to figure out a way to set up my camera and mirror so that I can do a video of me actually doing my makeup...AND try to stay in the middle of the picture at all times...

What I used:

Face:
- M.A.C Select Cover Up concealer in NW20 (I said N20 in the vid, oops)
- M.A.C StudioFix Powder compact in NC30

Eyes:
- UDPP as base from lash line to brow.
- M.A.C Paint Pot in Painterly from lash line to brow.
- Jordana e/s in Mint, from inner corner to middle of lid.
- M.A.C e/s in Patina and Woodwinked from middle of lid to outer corners. Also applied to 2/3 of contour.
- Milani e/s in Snow Frost under brow to highlight.
- Kate Super Sharp liquid liner in Black
- Maybelline Volum' Express Mascara in Black

Cheeks:
- Jordana Blush Powder in Stardust

Lips:
- Milani Lipstick in Amaretto

Hope you enjoy my vid...kinda shaky, but I will learn how to make them better!

Online Shopping Overload!

Over the course of the last three days I went on a spending spree online. I am so bad. When I shop online I never get that 'shopper's remorse' feeling. Maybe it's because it doesn't feel like I'm spending real money...Do any of you ladies feel the same way? Here's what I bought...

From Taylor Made Minerals:
  • 31 pigment samples, a few from each color family...can't wait to find my favorites so I can order full sizes!

From Coastal Scents:

From Drugstore.com:

From Amazon:

I want to try making my own makeup...How fun would it be to make mascara or mineral face powders? I don't know how I'm going to find the ingredients though, that stuff is hard to find and come by in Japan...gotta do my research! I'm also expecting a haul from a fellow blogger buddy in New York. I asked her to get me a bunch of Milani wet/dry eye shadows and other drugstore goodies...I will try to write reviews for all the products once I receive them. I'm super-excited :]

Have a nice weekend ladies!

Milani Denim Blue's and M.A.C Twinks FOTD

I finally had time to sit at home and chiiiiilll. It was nice to wake up at noon and just do nothing all day...I'm back to the yard tomorrow! While being a bum, I came up with two looks. For one, I used all the colors in the Milani quad called "Denim Blues". For the other look I used M.A.C's Naked Lunch and Twinks. I LOVE Twinks, I think it's in my Top 5 Favorite Eye Shadows Of All Time.

Denim Blue's Quad look:

- Shimmery white in inner corners
- Light matte blue in middle of lid
- Dark shimmery blue on outer V. Lightly define contour with same color.

The other look...I think I'm wearing this to work tomorrow.

- Naked Lunch from lashline, extend slightly past crease.
- Twinks on outer V. Line 2/3 of contour. Blend inwards!

This looks creepy...haha :]

Shibuya Adventure

I went back to my hairstylist today to have the short pieces of hair in the front re-dyed. After getting it done last week, the color didn't seem to hold very well, and there were some parts that didn't color at all. Now the front part of my hair looks BLACK, while the rest is a nice chocolate brown....my stylist said that it'll lighten up after three or four washes...I really hope it does, because I have triple-toned hair now....the things I get for being a perfectionist!

Anyway, I wore a green beater, green slip-on sneakers, and green eyeshadow today...I didn't even realize it was St. Patrick's Day, until after I got home and my bf pointed it out! Hahaha...what a crazy coincidence! I just really love green. Even my Nano cover is lime green.

I also bought a brand new 239 eye shadow brush and concealer from M.A.C. I hadn't spent money on M.A.C in a few weeks, so I thought a little wouldn't hurt, hee hee. I really needed a spare 239 brush. It sucks only having one, and constantly cleaning it. I got the Select Cover-Up concealer in NW20. It has pink undertones, which covers up my undereye bags quite nicely. It's not as forgiving as the Studio Fix Concealer, the one that comes in a little pot. I just don't have enough time in the mornings to put it on though...it takes a while to spread it evenly, and it doesn't last all day for me. I wanted something lighter and smoother...Select Cover-Up is easier to apply in my opinion...apply a few dots under eyes, dab, dab, dab, and you're done!

M.A.C 239 Eye Shadow Brush

M.A.C Select Cover-up concealer in NW20

Onto the FOTD :)

*~* Black and Green *~*

I used...

- UDPP as base.
- M.A.C e/s in Carbon (matte black)
- Milani e/s in Clover (Shimmery grass-green)
- M.A.C e/s in Shroom
- Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Black
- Maybelline Volum' Express Mascara in Black

How To...

1. Apply UDPP from lashline to brow.
2. Apply Carbon e/s (black) from lashline, extend sliiiightly past crease. Blend with blending brush to soften color.
3. Apply Clover e/s (green) on crease, and blend upwards. Also apply to outer V. Blend with tapered blending brush, with windshield-wiper motions. If green color disappears, reapply, and blend again.
4. Apply Shroom e/s under brow to highlight.
5. Line top lashline and apply mascara to top lashes.

This look is super-easy...takes 10 minutes, tops!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!! <3

Funky Black 'n Blue

Here's a recent FOTD, wore this to work two nights ago and some people looked at me crazy...
Maybe my perception of 'work-appropriate' is a little off...

I always wanted to rock the Amy Winehouse eye...here is my version!

*~*Black 'n Blue Wings*~*

Products used for Eyes:

- UDPP as base
- M.A.C e/s in Freshwater (shimmery sky blue)
- M.A.C e/s in Carbon (matte black)
- M.A.C e/s in Casino (similar to Amber Lights, a golden peachy brown w/gold shimmer)
- M.A.C e/s in Shroom (soft golden beige w/shimmer)
- Revlon ColorStay Liquid liner in Black
- Maybelline Volum' Express Mascara in Black

How To:

1. Apply UDPP from lashline to brow. Make sure it dries completely.

2. Apply Freshwater e/s (blue) from lashline to crease with a small, dense crease brush.

3. Apply Carbon e/s about a third of the way from the outer corner of eye. Then fling it up at an angle at the corner. Add more shadow to the corner, thickening the winged part. I used a small detail brush for this step.

4. Define 1/3 of crease with Carbon e/s.

5. Apply Casino e/s on top of black color, to get the 'rainbow' effect goin'.

6. Apply Shroom e/s from middle of lid where there is no color, to brow.

7. Line eyes with dark liquid liner, and apply mascara.

Here's what it looks like without liner & mascara, so you can see the color better.
