Fellow beauty bloggers...I have a dilemna! My mummy's birthday is in less than a week and I still have NO IDEA what to get her. She loves high-end cosmetics like Chanel, Lancome, Clinique, blah blah blah, but all I could think of getting her was this:
YSL Touche Eclat
I need ideas (and I'm not on a budget)...My mom is almost in her mid-fifties, but she looks mid-forties if you ask me. She already owns some quality makeup in neutral/berry tones. I thought about getting her a voucher for a day spa, but she works harder than most parents, so she may not have the time to go...she's a single mom with a lot of spirit and spunk, so I want to give her something that will make her look, therefore feel young again, even if it's just for five minutes!
What gifts have you guys given to your mothers that they absolutely loved and still use? PLEASE TELL MEEEEEEEEE!!! I love my mom and I want to give her something she will use and like without me having to ask her...All ideas are welcome, even if they're not makeup related. I love hearing what you ladies have to say!
Arigatooo~!

Honto ni Arigato! (Thank you so much!)
I'd like to thank everyone who read my last post, and everyone who left wonderful, kind comments. It's therapeutic, writing about feelings that I usually keep hidden from the surface.
I did not intend to reach out to all you readers, but I am glad I did. Each and every one of you are strong, inspirational women. I can't thank you enough.
So while I've been feeling bleh the past week, I bought a few new goodies and also received my crappage from drugstore.com. I vowed never to order from them because last time, my order took a damn month to arrive. But this time, it took less than two weeks so I'm quite happy. I didn't get anything special from them, just everyday essentials that I just can't get in Japan. I do like Japanese products, but sometimes, I miss American stuff too. Like I can't get deodorant here. Japanese boys and gals wear the spray-on or roll-on kind, because that's all that's available here. It does NOT work. I'll be sitting on the train, and the chunky dude next to me will smell like decaying seafood...SICK!
Here's the look I wore to Shibuya. I used NYX 'Aloha' as the base, 'Mediterranean' from lash line to area above crease, and M.A.C 'Concrete' on outer 'V' and 1/3 of contour. I love Shibuya...it has EVERYTHING. I wish I took pictures of people, I think Shibuya-ers have great style. Funky but polished at the same time. Never too loud or obscene.
Then here's me after I came home...wearing my new NARS The Multiple on cheekbones and Chanel lip gloss.
Department store haul (expect the Rimmel mascara):
From Top: M.A.C Technakohl Liner in Graphblack, Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara, NARS The Multiple in Maldives, Chanel lip gloss in Sesame, and a Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler.
With Flash:
Close-ups and swatches of 'Maldives' and 'Sesame'
Drugstore.com stuff (I got Secret deodorant too, haha, just didn't take a pic)

Too sad to blog...
Lately I've been in a strange mood. Not unhappy, but everything unnerves me. I go through these bouts of mood dips every now and then. It could be PMS, but lately I can't seem to stop thinking about my father. I think he's the reason why I've been feeling down.
My father passed away without warning two years ago, while I lived in California. A few days before I was due home to Japan, I get a life-changing call from one of my younger sisters. I was at a taco joint near my house. She sobs, 'Dad died' and begs me to come home immediately. I haven't been able to eat fish tacos since.
I cried at first, but became numb towards his death for a good year after that. I was dealing with my remaining family, a declining relationship with my mother, a messy breakup and job-hunting all at once...so I had no time to grieve, and gave myself no time to grieve either. In turn, for a few months I did turn into an erratic, tempermental person. I lost interest and patience with the little things that used to matter to me...like listening to my friends whine about boring jobs and no-good boyfriends, and eating and sleeping well.
My life has settled considerably since that fateful day. I speak to my mother now. I have a wonderful, caring, kind boyfriend with whom I live with. He picked me off the ground when everyone else was tired of my emotional roaller coaster. I have a good job in a promising field.
I've made supportive, innovating, inspirational friends.
But I don't have my father. He was the buffer between my mother and I. He was my shoulder to cry on. He belived in me although all I did was make shameful mistakes. He was my giving tree, and my creative mentor. But he is gone forever, and sometimes I don't know where to look to feel brighter, to feel like he's still with me. Sometimes I squeeze my eyes shut tight to remind myself what he looked and sounded like. I am afraid that I might forget his warm voice.
You think it gets easier, after losing a loved one...but it doesn't. You may think that you're going to be alright, that your life will go on, but it's not that easy. It's like I've been awake for two years, without a chance to blink and put my mind at ease. He is always in the back of my mind, a constant reminder of something missing, something unfinished, something unsaid.
I thank anyone who read this. It's just jumbled thoughts that needed a way out.

Rust look Tutorial
I noticed I haven't done any tutorials in a long time. Here's a look I did a few days ago with my new NYX eye shadows. I loved how it turned out! I wore my new red Famous Stars & Straps T-shirt to match. I didn't take a pic of it though, oops. Hope you enjoy the tut!
Colors used:
The finished look! (minus mascara so you can see the color better)
The T-shirt I wore to match my makeup :o) Picture taken from Dr Jays website.

My Beauty Faves
I wasn't tagged by anyone, but after reading Ms. J.Rose's list of beauty favorites, I thought it'd be fun to share mine.
My Beauty Favorites
Foundation: Right now I am in love with my Everyday Minerals foundation in Light Medium. I've used other kinds, like Clinique liquid foundies, and Laura Mercier. But so far nothing beats EDM's superb coverage and affordability. Oh, right now I'm also loving L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation.
Mascara: Maybelline Volum' Express TurboLash Mascara. The fat curved brush really keeps the curl in place, and the formula makes my lashes thicker, without making them crunchy. It's waterproof, yet easy to remove! A true winner!
Blush: Jordana Blush in Stardust. It's a peachy-coral. I love it on the apples of my cheeks.
Eyeshadow: M.A.C e/s in All That Glitters, NYX e/s in Sahara (soft beige w/shimmer) and Volcano (shimmery red-brown).
Day Cream: Been using Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel for a good two years now. It's never too oily, and gives you a fresh, even glow.
Lipstick: NYX round l/s in Harmonica (shimmery baby pink) and Iced Honey (shimmery honey-beige)
Beauty Product Brand: NYX if you're on a budget, and M.A.C if you can afford it. I go for both.
Essential Beauty Product: Facial moisturizer. Without it, I can't wear foundation. And chapstick. If I forget it at home, I'll buy one while I'm out!
Favorite Beauty Product: Makeup primers. I am always on the hunt for a good primer. Right now I use the one from NARS, but I'm almost out.
Perfume: Miami Glow by JLo and Chance by Chanel
Nails: I like OPI's Chapel of Love on my toes. It's a bright pink with coral shimmer.
Feet: Must be clean before I jump into bed. I moisturize them maybe only once a week. I wear covered shoes to work, so out of sight, out of mind.
Hands: I like the thick lotions from Gold Bond. They don't make my hands feel slick, and keeps them moisturized the whole day.
Three Products to Bring on a Deserted Island: rope, knife, and a blanket. And my bf too, since he's good at fixing stuff.
Woman I Adore for Her Beauty: My mom. She's been a single mom for a little while now, and needless to say, she's doing a great job. She also looks younger than her age. I need to know what her beauty secret is.
Woman With the Best Sense of Style: I hate to admit, but I like how Lindsay Lohan dresses. And Jessica Alba. Also, my middle sister has awesome style. It's eclectic, yet very pulled-together, especially on her budget! She'll wear a t-shirt from Phuket, a sweater-vest, cut-off shorts and chucks and make it look GOOD!
My Ultimate Dream (but I do not believe in selling my soul to the devil for it): Go back to school and start my own business.
How Do I Define Womanhood: Knowing when to say no to things that will bring you down. Also being able to take care of yourself physically, mentally, and financially.
My Favorite Fashion Publication: I get Glamour and Allure every month :)
I tag Chiara, L, and Gee!

New Night Cream!
After reading Ms. Gee's review on Nivea Creme as an everyday moisturizer, and it's comparison to Creme De La Mer, I picked up a can (tub?) for myself on my way home from work. I am a big fan of dupes and good drugstore finds. It's a simple moisturizer that can be applied to your face, arms, legs, feet, and anywhere else you please.
So for the next few days I will try this stuff out as a night cream and see how my skin reacts. Lately my skin's been a mess. One minute it'll be oily, then itchy. I'll even develop red, mosquito-bite esque bumps that usually go away in a few hours, but annoying nonetheless. It must be the fluctuating temperature and humidity. Last week we had lots of rain and it was FREEZING cold. This week it's been pretty sunny and hot. So I need a cream/lotion that will calm my angry skin.
First off, I L-O-V-E the scent. It reminds me of my obaachan (grandmother). She must've used this stuff too, since it's been around for a few decades. I just slathered it on my face a little while ago, after I spraying my face with my humongo can of Evian Brumisateur (facial spray). It's very thick, and kind of hard to spread...almost like refrigerated cream cheese! I'm touching my face now, and it doesn't feel too greasy, and the dry patches around my mouth and on my cheeks are no longer there.
I will update you guys as often as I can and let you know if the cream is working for me. Hopefully I won't wake up in a few hours with a face full of zits. Nasstaay!
'Cream Cheese Face Cream'...looks yummy dontcha think?

My Heatherette Makeover by Lady L!
I hung out with Lady L and her little fam bam a few days ago. Helped her lug stuff around and take care of her ADORABLE son, Raiden. Miss L is also a very talented artist...go check out her artwork and poetry HERE.
She did a Heatherette look on me, which I thought turned out great! She used all of the colors in Trio 1. I don't know any of the names of the colors, but she used the light pink on the inner corner, the blue-ish green on the middle lid, and the sparkly black on the outer V and contour. And she did all of this with ONE brush, the M.A.C 239.
While I was at her place, I flooded her bathroom...forgot to pull the shower curtain inside the tub...I had it pulled all the way across, but left it outside the tub...so I spent a good 30 minutes cleaning her bathroom floor...Hey, at least her floor is clean now! (o__O;)
L, I hope there 'aint no green stuff growing in there...gomen!!!
Up next... NYX Trios and single shadows!

Makeup for frugal ladies...
I ordered a grip of NYX eye shadows and lippies from cherry culture. Getting my order processed was a beeeeetch, but it went through. Lady L ordered some stuff with me, since shipping to my country is NOT CHEAP. Plus, them effers don't send to APO or FPO adresses. They messed up my order once after checkout, but got that sorted out. I almost canceled the whole order, but since it went through, I decided to stick with it this time. I have a sour aftertaste from this whole mess so I'm not sure if I'll ever order from them again.
Here's my order...It's a LOT, I know! Don't hate! LOL. If I had shopped at M.A.C or another high-end brand, I would have only been able buy half the quantity...so I think I got a good deal...is this a bad way to think? Probably, but WHO CARES??? Online shopping is my crack.
Products ordered
So expect a lot of EOTD's and FOTD's after I receive this haul. I am trying not to buy M.A.C makeup (unless it's a limited collection) until I save up more money. I love the color variation and consistency of NYX single eye shadows and Jumbo Eye Pencils. Right now my Holy Grail shadow base is the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese (shimmery white). My eye shadow lasts the entire day without creasing or fading...Serious talk! Of course I use UDPP first.

'Vagi-Face' Never Again
I tried Monistat Soothing Chafing Relief Powder-Gel for the last time EVER yesterday. I used it AFTER toner and moisturizer, and BEFORE liquid foundie and mineral foundie. I swear it made me break out on my cheeks. After I took everything off and washed my face, bf was like "You're breaking out, it's really bad!". He never comments on how good or bad my skin looks, so I RAN to the nearest mirror (on my kitchen table). Lo and behold, there were fresh, white-tipped zits that popped up on my cheeks during the two hours I had Monistat on my face.
My first reaction was "FUUUUUUUUUCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!", but I am not all serious about my skin anyway, so after a few minutes, I didn't care too much. I mean, a good foundation can always cover those effers up. I think it also dried out my cheeks too, because underneath the zits, my skin was REALLY patchy, flaky and dry.
In meager attempts to rescue my cheeks, I applied more night cream than usual (I use Lush Imperialis moisturizer), and my skin seemed to calm down by morning. There were less patches of dry skin, but the zits were still there. I used a super-blendable liquid foundation (L'Oreal True Match) on my cheeks, over NARS makeup primer. Even now, 12 hours after appying it, my foundation is intact.
I've learned my lesson. GET RID OF MONISTAT. Oh, and of course bf came up with another name...He says I need 'Vagi-Soap' to wash my 'Vagi-Face'. (-____-;)

Everyday Minerals Haul Pt. 2
My Everyday Minerals haul came in yesterday...I think I'm covered for foundation and concealer for a good three years! I love the inexpensive prices and all the different formulas. I like my foundation to be very matte, but there are some days where I want a little dewiness or glow. I have 'Light Medium' foundation in three formulas; matte, semi matte and intensive. So for this haul I got 'Light Olive', a more yellow foundation in my favorite matte finish. And of course I got a full-sized concealer in 'Multi-Tasking'. It covers red and blue-based imperfections...acne, acne scars, veins and under eye circles. If you have light to medium beige or ochre skin tones like myself, this concealer will work for you. Oh, everything I got other than the samples, I chose from the Full-Size Personal Custom Kit. The kit is $32 and you get to choose one item from six categories. Yes, I love deals!
So here's my haul...enjoy!
Re: Edit
Worry not ladies, Lady L was NOT driving when I took this pic, she was just posing (harhar)...she was actually rushing to get off the phone with her hubby so she could get her 'MAN on'. She will make a great bus driver someday (ROFL). This woman acts fast...she gets sh*t done in no time!
